Getting things scheduled these days requires a lot of negotiating.
For a simple, no-frills calendar, try 30 Boxes, a free web-based application that puts a premium on social networking and ease of use.
When you sign up for an account you can add pertinent information, including “buddies” to share you calendar with, birthdays for your friends and families, and other details.
The service features a host of standard calendar functions: the ability to view by week, day or month, add to-dos, and schedule events.
You can also just type your event into the site’s “One Box Entry” field and it will do the work for you. (The site “understands” what you mean when you type in something like “lunch Thursday 1pm with Jim”).
But where 30 Boxes really excels is in the social networking department. In addition to allowing you to share your calendar via Google, Facebook, instant messenger and other services you can also create a widget version of your calendar, viewable anywhere.
Now when you double book you’ll be able to let others know easily.
