The cartography app field is filled with heavy hitters like Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze. (Well, two out of three at least.)
But a lot happens between point A and point B. Sometimes you want a map that’s more than a map – a map like Scout.
The new personal navigation app for the Android and iPhone has more than a few tricks up its sleeve. Besides offering voice-guided turn-by-turn directions, Scout learns your daily commute and gives tips on faster routes based on traffic patterns.
There’s also a huge database of services like restaurants, gas stations, and parking garages, and you can find a calendar of local events (concerts, festivals, etc.) at scout.me and send your favorites right to the app.
Even more remarkable: Scout can automatically text friends and family your current location with a pre-calculated ETA.
Pretty impressive. You know, for a map.
